Server and RAID, or other Disk Mirroring/Spanning Data Recovery

File Servers, Mail Servers, Web Servers, Application Servers, and many others lie at the heart of a companies operations. These servers may be using RAID systems and likely use many drives. Data loss from servers can be an extremely challenging situation for any company that relies on their data and their servers for day to day operations.

Windows NT, Windows 2000 NetWare, Apple, Solaris, HPUX, and Linux servers are only some of the types of servers used in today's business environments. Our data recovery specialists have experience with them all.

Servers suffer from many types of data loss problems are require similar recovery procedures to those employed for
hard drive recovery.

Examples indicating server data loss can include:

  • The server will not boot

  • The server has inaccessible partitions and drives

  • The server contains applications that are unable to load and/or run data

  • The server's disks are corrupted

  • Server crash

  • RAID controller failure

  • Multiple drive failure

The Recovery Process

Data loss from RAID and servers can be extremely critical. A raw image of the server is created. This is followed by an in-depth assessment and determination of the cause of data loss. Any potential physical damage is assessed and damaged components are replaced. Data sectors are examined to determine the server's layout and file structures are determined.

Once the file structures are understood, the servers using multiple drives are typically de-striped and the data files extracted. The data is recovered using the appropriate methods, and the data validity is checked.

Servers and RAID systems are often the most critical of data recovery situations. Never trust recovery from servers or RAID systems to anyone but professional recovery experts!
